Cookery in tougher-than-tough situations
The difficulties of cooking in extreme conditions, through the experiences of chef and Sherpa Nhati.
Cooking at an altitude of over 4,000 metres, often in adverse weather conditions and with limited resources, is the daily grind of this Nepalese Sherpa who works as a chef at the base camps for climbers hoping to conquer the highest peaks of the Himalaya.
Amid food shortages, improvising his cookery and his fridge, and using utensils he takes up from the vally himself, Nhati feeds climbers not just for nourishment purposes, but also to help them enjoy their food.
